TEACHING TECHNIQUES

LESSON FOUR

This lesson is an assignment only.

A committee will review your video lesson and grade you on presentation, content, lesson plan, effectiveness of the lesson and your usage of teaching techniques

          • A mother and her 16-year-old daughter have made an appointment to meet with you concerning riding lessons.   The daughter has been riding for five years, but now feels she wants to compete at a higher level and thinks riding lessons will help her to win.

Write a report on your interview with the mother and daughter.  (Provide a complete explanation of goals, objectives and your plan for attaining them.)

Write a lesson plan for the daughter’s first lesson.

Now video yourself giving the lesson.  (It is best if you can present an actual lesson with a student who approximates the assignment student.   If that is not possible, pretend the student exists and present the entire lesson.)

          • A mother has scheduled by telephone a lesson for her 9-year-old daughter.  This will be the girl’s first riding lesson.

What will you do to assess the girl’s riding skills?

Write a quick lunge-line lesson plan.

On video, explain just how you will proceed with the lesson and what you hope to accomplish.

You may submit your videos using one of the online video hosting websites (For example: YouTube).  Send the link to  cathyhansonqh@gmail.com
