       I have made the mistake of trying to "get the edge off" by lunging and working her hard as soon as we get into the arena. She has learned, just as you said, that working is very unpleasurable. Lately, I haven't been lunging her, just starting out nice and slow, and she has been much more receptive to this idea. It made a light bulb go on in my head.
